Many of us might feel a little nostalgic about wallpaper. Maybe when you were growing up, it was very common, but lately, painting walls has become the norm. That is not to say that you will not run into homes that have wallpaper, or that there is anything wrong with deciding to install wallpaper in your home. Installing wallpaper needs to be done carefully, since it is very unforgiving. If you make a mistake, you will usually need to rip off the panel, and it might not be usable again after you do so.
Another thing to consider with wallpaper is when you are buying a home where there is wallpaper installed already. Wallpaper can hide problems underneath, such as cracks, holes or even mold. If there is wallpaper in a home you are looking at, feel the walls to note any irregularities or temperature differences. Water damage behind wallpaper can cause all kinds of problems.
