No one wants to be wasteful, right? The problem is that a lot of the things we do every day without thinking are pretty wasteful. Take the way we use water for example. Water might seem like an unlimited resource, but many scientists are saying that freshwater supply might be low in the future. This is why some have chosen to look at ways to conserve water today to prevent a bleak future. Since the average American household is estimated to use around a hundred gallons of water each day, there are many areas that can be looked at for lowering water usage.

Your bathroom fixtures have a big influence on how much water you use. If you have an old toilet, you might be cutting down from 7 to less than 2 gallons per flush just by upgrading to a modern toilet. Faucets that have aerators installed will also provide plenty of pressure while using a lot less water.

The technology to do more with less water has been around for a long time, but there are still many old homes out there that haven’t had it implemented.
